Vintage at Goodwood

Wayne Hemingway knows his rock ‘n’ roll. His first gig was nothing less than David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust in 1972. He was a punk, then a new romantic, before founding fashion house Red or Dead in 1982.

His festival, Vintage at Goodwood, in August will reflect all his endeavours.

“Vintage is an event for people who care about culture and design,” Hemingway told this site. “It’s about celebrating creativity from the 1940s to the 1980s. We’ll have a pop up Waitrose, John Lewis and M&S alongside 200 vintage clothes sellers, films, a roller disco, the stages, and much more.”

Each area will have its own chief. Mike Flowers, will curate the 1960s pop and easy listening, Heaven 17’s Martyn Ware, the 1980s stage and so on. Artists already confirmed for Vintage include, The Damned, Aswad, Sandie Shaw and Heaven 17.

“We’re about being brave and audacious, not just another festival,” Hemingway says firmly.
