Very Metal
Mama Festivals introduces High Voltage to Victoria Park this summer, two days of “rock, progressive rock and metal acts” across three stages, hand picked by Classic Rock magazine. “Custom built by rock fans for rock fans”.
Scheduled after the World Cup and before the end of the school holidays, the 30,000 capacity site will have ‘facilities second to none’, with ‘great food, proper beer, clean toilets and deluxe hospitality’, according to the magazine. Former BBC man, Dave McCalmont, will manage the production.
Standard tickets are £65, with a raft of VIP options available too.
“We’re offering a premium service, it’s a bit like being a concierge in a hotel,” Mama Group/VMS Live managing director told whitebook.co.uk. “You’ll have to pay of course, but our default answer to a question is ‘yes’. We can fix flights, accommodation, transfers, you name it.”
Forster described the global reach of the festival, which features headliners ZZ Top and Emerson, Lake and Palmer and a stellar metal/prog/classic rock supporting cast, as amazing. Web chat triggered quick sales in Poland and the United States, 10 per cent of Sundays tickets snapped up before the event’s formal launch.
“Forster said. “We won’t be shoehorning any irrelevant acts in. the metal stage will be a metal stage and so on. The reforming acts are in their original line-ups where possible, and we’re giving people something they really want. High Voltage is about the best of the past, the present and the future, and I’m very confident it will be a success.”
