Relocation relocation
Winner of the Best Small Festival award 2009, Beach Break Live has found a new home at Pembrey Country Park, Carmarthenshire after being denied planning permission in St Agnes just six days from show time last year.
The organisers pulled off an amazing recovery, moving the entire festival to Port Lympne, Kent against the clock for a third consecutive sell out success, but the search for a viable, long term base has been on ever since.
“We’ve been able to scour the UK’s coastline to find the perfect permanent home for Beach Break Live,” event organiser, Ian Forshew, said. “Students asked for somewhere as close to a beach as possible, with ‘beautiful surroundings’, ‘hidden areas’, ‘stages on the sand’ and ‘good sound levels’. At Pembrey Country Park we can give them all that.”
The site incorporates the award winning Cefn Sidan Sands beach, set against the backdrop of the Gower Peninsula, and 2010 will see more than 17,000 students there for three days of sun, sea, sand, surf and music.
Beach Break’s ethos focuses on a fair approach to the community and ticket holders, be it running buses from universities to reduce carbon emissions, or working with the local suppliers, businesses and charities.
