On the ball

Molten Sports has been appointed official ball supplier to the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games. The four year deal starts this month and runs until December 2013.

Under the terms of the agreement, manufacturer Molten will source a range of balls for the basketball, football, handball, netball, volleyball and waterpolo competitions at the Games. The company will also provide digital scoreboards and digital basketball shot clocks for the finals at Crystal Palace.

“Around 47,000 youngsters across London will set out on the journey to represent their borough at the 2010 Balfour Beatty London Youth Games,” Russell Findlay, chief executive of the charity, said. “For thousands of children across the city, the Games will provide the first opportunity to compete in a large-scale sporting event, following in the footsteps of stars such as Rio Ferdinand and Luol Deng.
“It’s crucial, therefore, that we provide a really positive early experience of sport. By teaming up with a company of Molten’s international standing, we are able to ensure we offer well-organised and professional competitions delivered with equipment of the highest quality.”
