Electric Brixton out of The Fridge
Steve Forster, behind the reinvention of the Relentless Garage, the Birmingham Institute the HMV Picture House and a number of other venues, has joined the board of Omni Assets as operations director.
The company recently acquired the Fridge nightclub, renamed Electric Brixton, and Forster has been steering the latter stages of the redevelopment.
“It’s a fascinating building, and I’m absolutely delighted to be involved,” he said. “The Fridge is best known for its club history, and I think people forget what a great live heritage the site has as well. London is crying out for a well run, independently owned, mid-size space, and I am convinced, with its location, facilities, capacity and commercial offering, that the Electric Brixton will be just that; a first choice destination venue.”
Due to open in September, production complete, Electric Brixton will have 1,350 capacity for concerts, and 1,700 for club events.

Brixton needs this to work to bring some life back to the area. The project looks exciting and I will be one of the first to test it out!!!!!

I am so very happy about this news, being a neighbour and frequenter from since my teens. Its such a great space and I walk past it almost every day. I was terrified it would become a Sainsburys local or knocked to the ground so thank you very much for investing in a place that has great history and bound to be a great future too. Hope my sons will enjoy it like I did, and be able to walk home. Lucy

Fantastic!! there are so many great live bands to see and sadly over the past few years venues have been closing; the Astoria being the main one, and this new venue is local to me, i think my first visit will be the SLF gig....

Amazing news! fantastic! I can not wait!!!
I walk past it every day as I live a hop skip and a jump away.
I have been waiting for a club that will bring some of my friends to the area I live in, instead of going out in town all the time. I would so love for people to carry the party on back at mine after! great location!

I bought the place as a failed cinema during the riots in 1982 and turned it into a venue...... but couldn't make it pay. I greatly admire the courage and efforts you guys are putting into it. It looks great and I feel sure you will succeed. Great good luck.
