Buy and Buy...

Former chief executive of the Arena Group, David Walley, behind the recent acquisition of ARB Audio & Visual Hire, told whitebook.co.uk he has already signed the deal on a second acquisition.

“I’ll be able to reveal who it is in the next week or so,” he said. With his partner on the ARB deal, David Harding, looking after the business day to day, and previous owner Bob Boote heading up client liaison, chairman Walley is free to manage the expansion strategy and identify potential targets. Smaller acquisitions he will fund himself, while finance is already in place to execute any bigger ones.

“ARB went into administration last year, and we were able to get it for a good price,” he said. “I worked with them for years at Arena, it’s a great company with a loyal client base, and, for the first time, there’s no debt in the business.

“Having spent the last two years racing cars and collecting motorcycles I feel it is now time to get back into things, I have really missed the industry and the people,” Walley added.

ARB supplies sound, light, vision and power services to clients including Silverstone, the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).  Established in 1944, the company employs more than 30 staff and turnover is in excess of £4m.
