Borough council looking to appoint 2012 Live Site Event Manager

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council is looking to recruit an experienced event manager to run the 2012 Live Site at Weymouth Beach.

Weymouth and Portland is the venue for the Olympic and Paralympic sailing competitions and, as one of the major venues outside of London, there will be strong national and international interest in the events.

Chairman of the Management Committee Councillor Michael Goodman said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced event manager to be part of this once in a lifetime event.

“We anticipate that a large number of visitors will be coming to Weymouth and Portland during the Games and many of them will visit the Live Site on the beach.

“I would encourage anyone who has the relevant qualifications and a proven track record in delivering major events or festivals to apply.”

The successful candidate will be part of the borough council’s Leisure and Tourism team and will lead on the development and delivery of the Live Site.

The temporary Live Site is part of the public presentation of the London 2012 Olympic Games and will have two large screens displaying live footage from the BBC of the London 2012 Olympic Games and host a number of Cultural Olympiad events and a sports arena.
